¿µ¹®³»¿ë (English Abstract) |
As mobile devices are widely used and multimedia contents services for mobile applications are provided wirelessly, demands for protecting digital contents intellectual property are increasing. AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), a symmetric block cipher adopted as an OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) DRM (Digital Rights Management) standard, requires too much processing power to be used for large multimedia files on mobile embedded systems with low processing power and limited power sources. On the other hand, stream ciphers require less processing power, but they might be vulnerable to certain types of attacks. This paper presents a new encryption/decryption method for multimedia contents on mobile devices, by combining characteristics of block ciphers and stream ciphers. The proposed algorithm was implemented for PC and mobile environment. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms AES.
